South Bethlehem Homework Club
“A program designed to provide a focus on homework completion in a structured atmosphere. Also includes life skills development, community service, field trips, and other educational activities.”
Each week, two brothers visit Cathedral Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem to help students from the area with their homework, play games with them, and interact on a personal level. The students are from local elementary schools and come from very diverse backgrounds.
The program has evolved from a block of time where students are just waiting around for their parents to a place where they can recieve help on their homework and more importantly, communicate with young adults. Not only does this program teach the children very valuable lessons, but it also helps the volunteers get a small glimpse on what life is like in South Bethlehem.
Only recently has the club been opened to Lehigh students, and Sigma Chi is very proud to be a part of this program.
